A local history museum stands on the hilltop of Honmoku Civic Park in an eye-catching octagonal building modeled after the Hall of Dreams (Yumeiden) at Horyu-ji Temple. The museum displays fishing tools once used in Honmoku's waters, old agricultural implements, and household goods, with free admission. A small and warm museum where conversations blossom across three generations: "When your grandfather was a child..."

Tips

From the park to the museum involves climbing slopes and stairs, so take your time and pace yourselves with the grandparents. The exhibition is small enough to view in about 30 minutes, so even young children won't easily get bored.

Best time to visit

Allow 30-45 minutes. Early afternoon sees fewer visitors and is quiet.
