Board the golden pirate ship and enjoy a leisurely cruise on Lake Ashi (芦ノ湖)
About this spot
After descending from Owakudani by ropeway to Togendai Port, the finale is a pirate ship cruise on Lake Ashi (芦ノ湖). With a gleaming golden and red hull decorated with pirate statues, children's excitement reaches peak levels the moment they board. From the lake, you can see the shrine gate of Hakone Shrine (箱根神社) set in the water, and on clear days, a glimpse of Mount Fuji awaits—an elegant voyage.
Tips
The bow deck offers prime photo spots but can be windy—watch for flying hats. You can disembark at Hakone Town Port or Motohakone Port, then return to Hakone Yumoto on a bus that loops around the lake.
Best time to visit
25 to 40 minutes sailing; afternoon cruises around 2 p.m. are easier to board before evening rush
