Walk the Approach Lined with Cedar Trees and Pray for Good Fortune at Tengu Temple

About this spot

A temple believed to have more than 1,200 years of history, located at the midway point of Mt. Takao, with Tengu statues greeting visitors at the gate. The approach lined with massive cedar trees is refreshing to walk, and the vermilion main hall and colorful carvings are incredibly photogenic. The path to the summit continues directly from the temple grounds.

Tips

Small children should be carried up the stone steps leading to the main hall. The grant booth in the temple grounds offers popular protective amulets for children's health. It's also a convenient final rest stop with toilet facilities before heading to the summit.
