One of the largest limestone caves in the Kanto region, featuring a 800-meter viewing course with impressive sights such as the colorfully lit "Mountain of Death" (死出の山). The cave maintains a cool 11°C year-round, offering a natural air-conditioning in summer and warmth in winter, letting you enjoy a non-everyday underground world regardless of season.
Tips
Bring a cardigan or light jacket as the cave is cool even in summer. The passages are wet and slippery, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Note that on weekends and holidays, buses stop at Higashihihara, requiring about a 25-minute walk.
Best time to visit
Approximately 40 minutes to view. Early morning visits mean fewer crowds in both the parking lot and cave.
