Leisurely Exploration of Gorge Beauty with Suspension Bridges and Giant Boulders

About this spot

A representative example of Okutama's gorge beauty, carved by the rapids of the Tama River cutting through giant boulders. Just a few minutes walk from Hatonosu Station reveals the panoramic gorge vista from the Hatonosu Suspension Bridge (鳩ノ巣小橋). The riverside walking trail is filled with negative ions, and is especially magnificent during the seasons of fresh green leaves or autumn foliage.

Tips

The walking path has rocky sections and step drops, so sneakers are essential. Just a 5-minute walk from the station to the gorge, making it easy to visit even during train waiting times.

Best time to visit

Approximately 45 minutes for the walk. Afternoon light beautifully illuminates the gorge.
