A water museum affectionately known as 'Kawahaku' (かわはく) standing on the banks of the Arakawa River. The symbolic large water wheel impresses with its scale as one of Japan's largest, and the facility is packed with interactive learning opportunities, including a full-scale 173-meter Arakawa River model and an outdoor athletic play area called 'Arakawa Waku-Waku Land' (荒川わくわくランド) where children can enjoy water play. The museum centers on hands-on exhibits that captivate children.
Tips
Be sure to bring a change of clothes and sandals to enjoy the outdoor water play facilities. The museum is stroller-friendly and equipped with diaper-changing facilities. Outdoor facilities may close depending on weather, so check in advance.
Best time to visit
Allow 2 hours. During summer vacation, the museum is least crowded right after opening.
