Starting point for exploring the town. Pick up a map and stroll along the Onogawa River
About this spot
A free tourist information hub housed in an Edo-period merchant house where your Sawara exploration begins. You'll find town maps, information about highlights, and benches for a rest. In front of the hall, the willow-lined Onogawa River and the Hie Bridge (Jiajia Bridge) await, with water cascading every 30 minutes—a hit with children.
Tips
The riverbank has places without fencing, so hold hands with small children. The path is flat and easy for strollers, but it's wise to use the restroom at the exchange hall before exploring.
Best time to visit
Plan for about 30 minutes. Early morning has fewer crowds and better photo opportunities
