Pay respects at the Main Hall and observe the powerful Goma Fire Prayer ceremony
About this spot
The head temple of the Shingon Chisan school with over a thousand years of history. Beloved as the "Narita Fudō", the Goma Fire Prayer ceremony performed daily in the Main Hall captivates children with its impressive flames. Important cultural properties like the three-tiered pagoda and the Nio gate are scattered throughout the grounds, making a stroll through the temple feel like a small historical adventure.
Tips
The Goma Fire Prayer ceremony is held roughly every hour during the day and can be viewed from inside the main hall without reservation. Stone steps continue from the front gate to the Main Hall, so a baby carrier is safer than a stroller.
