The palace where the Kawagoe clan lord conducted state affairs during the Edo period. Existing honmaru palaces are rare throughout Japan, making this a precious historic structure. You can tour the spacious tatami-matted great hall and the senior retainers' quarters, and as you walk the corridors, you'll hear the authentic creaking of old floorboards—full of historic charm. Children can experience life as a feudal lord as they stroll through.
