Pay Respects at an Ancient Shrine with Brilliantly Colored Carvings Along the Shrine Path

About this spot

One of the three Chichibu Shrines, bearing the auspicious name 'climbing to a mountain of treasures.' The shrine's exquisitely carved railings adorned with vivid polychrome decorations are breathtaking, and it is known for divine protection against fire, theft, and misfortune. The walk along the pristine white torii gate and shrine path is refreshing.

Tips

Stone steps lead to the shrine hall, but a gentler side path is accessible even with strollers. The ropeway station is very close by, so visiting the shrine before heading to the summit is efficient.

Best time to visit

Shrine visit takes 30–45 minutes. Afternoon is generally smoother
