Panoramic View of Gyōda's Rural Landscape from the Observation Tower

About this spot

A renowned site for "Gyōda Lotus" flowers, said to have bloomed after their ancient seeds awakened during construction. From late June to early August each year, diverse flowering lotus varieties blanket the pond. Climbing the 50-meter observation tower provides a panoramic view of Gyōda's rural landscape and the kofun district, and in summer you can look down on the enormous rice paddy art.

Tips

Lotus flowers open in the morning and close in the afternoon. During blooming season, consider visiting here first thing in the morning before heading to Oshi Castle. The spacious, flat park grounds are safe for strollers.

Best time to visit

Allow 45–75 minutes. The best time to see the lotus is typically late June to early August in the early morning.
