Spend the morning enjoying close encounters with koalas, quokkas, and capybaras
About this spot
A premier animal-contact zoo sprawling across the hills of Higashimatsuyama. Home to the quokka, known as the world's happiest animal, the capybara famous for its open-air hot spring bath—a winter tradition—and crowd favorites like koalas and giraffes. With areas where you can interact with goats and rabbits, plus large play equipment, half a day won't be enough to see it all.
Tips
The park has many slopes; strollers can be challenging in some areas. Using the park's internal bus 'Sai Poppo' (彩ポッポ) makes it easier to explore even for children. Animal feeding experiences are limited in quantity, so arrive early.
Best time to visit
Plan for 3 hours. Early morning, right after opening, is notably less crowded
