Experience Meiji-Era Elegance at the Residence and Garden of the Last Sakura Clan Lord

About this spot

The residence built by Masatomo Hotta, the last lord of Sakura clan, during the Meiji period. The main building and other structures are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan, and the garden is designated as a National Place of Scenic Beauty. Gazing out over the lawn garden from the veranda, you can almost feel the peaceful moments once spent by its master. A representative masterpiece of Sakura that frequently appears as a drama filming location.
