Mini-Traverse Hike Across the Twin Peaks of Mt. Otoko and Mt. Onna

About this spot

This 877-meter famous peak consists of two summits, Mt. Otoko (Male Peak) and Mt. Onna (Female Peak), and has been celebrated alongside Mt. Fuji as "Mt. Fuji of the West, Mt. Tsukuba of the East" since ancient times. From Miyuki-ga-hara, Mt. Otoko is a 15-minute walk, while Mt. Onna takes about 20 minutes. From the rocky summit of Mt. Onna, the Kanto Plain spreads dramatically at your feet, and on clear days you can even see Tokyo Skytree and Mt. Fuji.

Tips

The summit area features many rocky sections, so sturdy, well-fitting hiking boots are essential. For efficiency, climb Mt. Otoko before lunch and Mt. Onna afterward while heading toward the ropeway station.

Best time to visit

Combined hike of both peaks takes approximately 1.5 hours. Morning offers the clearest air and most spectacular views.
