About this spot

Japan's second-largest lake. The Tsukuba Kasumigaura Rin-Rin Road along the lakeshore has virtually no traffic lights, allowing you to ride endlessly on a single road just above the water's surface. The lake scenery with sail boats and yachts, and the panoramic view of Mount Tsukuba across the lake, is the highlight of this journey.

Tips

The lakeside is exposed with strong winds on some days. It's safer to set a turning-around point without overexerting yourselves, and head back toward Tsuchiura Station about an hour before your bicycle rental return time.

Best time to visit

Approximately 2 hours required. The lake looks beautiful in afternoon light.
