Samashima Tea Sweets and Souvenir Shopping to Wrap Up Your Trip
About this spot
A roadside station at the gateway to Sakai Town on the banks of the Tone River. Sweets made with the local specialty Sashima tea are popular, and there's a unique specialty product corner featuring items from Kunigami Village in Okinawa with which the station exchanges goods. Grab a baked good or local bread and take a break while enjoying souvenir shopping to cap off your day.
Tips
By late afternoon, prepared dishes and bread tend to sell out, so secure souvenirs early. The banks of the Tone River offer good views and are recommended for a final rest before heading home.
Best time to visit
Allow about 45 minutes. Earlier in the evening is safer than right before closing.
