Prepare for the Castle Town with Materials on the Koga Domain and Dutch Scholar Takamimi Izumi

About this spot

A museum built on the site of the Koga Castle secondary fort. Tracing the footsteps of the castle town from the era of the Koga Kubo through the Koga Domain to the collections of Takamimi Izumi, a senior retainer and Dutch scholar. The melodious sound of an antique Dutch street organ, played at set times, delights children. The surrounding moats and stone walls are also atmospheric.

Tips

Confirm the street organ performance times at the reception desk. Consider purchasing a combined ticket for the three museums—this museum, the Seal-Carving Art Museum, and the Literary Museum—for better value.

Best time to visit

Plan for 60-90 minutes. Early morning, shortly after opening, is quiet and ideal for leisurely viewing.
