About this spot
An ancient shrine with the Nikko mountains as its sacred deity, known for its benefit of good marriages and relationships. Just a 5-minute walk from Toshogu Shrine along a cedar-lined path, it has a calm and serene atmosphere in contrast to the magnificent Toshogu. The grounds feature a husband-and-wife cedar tree and parent-and-child cedar tree, making it perfect for family commemorative visits.
Tips
Worship at the main shrine is free, though the sacred garden requires a separate admission fee. The shrine offers abundant talismans and omamori (charms) and votive plaques that children enjoy, making it an easy stop on the way back from Toshogu.
Best time to visit
Allow 30-50 minutes. The afternoon is relatively uncrowded
