About this spot

This roughly 3-kilometer gorge was carved by the Kinugawa River flowing over volcanic rock. The contrast between the rugged rock faces, twisting like a writhing dragon, and the clear blue stream is breathtaking. It's about a 15-minute walk from the entrance to the famous Nijimi Falls, so even families with kids can easily enjoy the beauty of the gorge.

Tips

The walking trail has many stairs and isn't suited to strollers. Bring a baby carrier and comfortable walking shoes. A round trip to Nijimi Falls is manageable even for small children.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour round trip. The scenery is stunning during the fresh green season and autumn foliage.
