Light Hiking Through a Gorge of Unusual Rock Formations and Clear Blue Waters
About this spot
A approximately 3km gorge created as volcanic rocks were carved by the flow of the Kinugawa River. The contrast between the wild, undulating rock faces that resemble a dragon and the clear blue stream is breathtaking. From the entrance to the scenic Nijimi Waterfall (虹見の滝), it's only about a 15-minute walk, so families with children can easily experience the gorge's beauty.
Tips
The walking paths have many stairs and are not suitable for strollers. Bring a baby carrier and wear comfortable hiking shoes. The round trip to Nijimi Waterfall is manageable even for small children.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour round trip. Spectacular views during spring greenery and autumn foliage seasons.
