A temple of a tengu counted among Japan's three great tengu. Housed in the Chūhōdō Hall is Japan's largest Tengu mask, with a face 6.5 meters tall and a nose 2.7 meters high, whose impressive size draws gasps from children and adults alike. The temple is also known for the 'borrowed mask' tradition, where visitors borrow a Tengu mask to make wishes—a power spot for good fortune.
Tips
The mountain road has narrow, one-way sections, so drive carefully. The approach has many stone steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Free admission is also a nice perk.
