The main shop of Eguchi Dango, a long-established dumpling store representing Nagaoka since its founding in 1903 (Meiji 35). In the charming atmosphere of a relocated traditional house, enjoy signature five-color dumplings (五色だんご), bamboo leaf dumplings (笹だんご), and traditional sweets made with Nagaoka's famous soy sauce red rice (醤油赤飯). The cozy interior with an irori hearth lets you forget the passage of time while savoring the quality of Niigata's rice and bean paste. The shop also offers a great selection of souvenirs available by weight.
Tips
The tea and snack area can attract queues on weekends. It's about a 10-minute drive from Settaya with free parking. Bamboo leaf dumplings have a short shelf life, so purchase souvenirs just before heading home.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. After 1:30 PM following lunch, seating becomes more available.
