Capture gorge and silhouette photos at the water-mirror Panorama Station
About this spot
A popular spot where visitors can safely appreciate Kiyotsu Gorge, one of Japan's three great gorges, from a 750-meter-long pedestrian tunnel. Renovated as an art installation, the tunnel is known for its water surface covering the floor at the end Panorama Station, which reflects the gorge to create a magical photograph. From the viewing spots along the way, you can also see the V-shaped columnar jointed rock walls and the Kiyotsu River up close. The tunnel interior itself, with its interplay of light and color, becomes a subject for photography, allowing camera-loving couples to forget time as they shoot.
Tips
During peak seasons, advance reservations (with specified dates and times) may be required, so check official information before visiting. Early morning hours are less crowded and easier for water-mirror photography. While the tunnel has flat, easy-to-walk passages, the water mirror is shallow and may require wading, so waterproof shoes or sandals are recommended. There is a short walk along the gorge from the parking lot to the tunnel entrance.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1.5 hours required. The earliest morning hours right after opening are the least crowded.
