An established merchant house located in the Omachi district with its preserved black-plastered walls, symbolizing Murakami's salmon culture. The spectacular sight of salt-dried salmon hung from the ceiling of this merchant house, built approximately 130 years ago, to mature in the cold wind is truly breathtaking. In Murakami, salmon is called "Iyoboya," and a food culture has been passed down where every part of the fish, from head to tail, is savored without waste. Premium products such as sake-marinated salmon make wonderful souvenirs. Alongside viewing the shop interior, you'll also enjoy examining the architectural details of the traditional merchant house.
