A lookout spot atop a cliff jutting into the Sea of Japan, beloved as a sacred site for couples under the name Koibito Misaki (Lovers' Cape). Heart-shaped plaques, hung by couples as tokens of their vows, line the observation fence tightly, and writing your names on one and hanging it makes a lasting memory of the trip. The Sea of Japan spreading out below, and the mountain range of Mt. Yoneyama when you turn around, form a magnificent panorama. In the evening, the sun setting into the horizon dyes the sea a deep red, creating a romantic moment perfect for ending the day.

Tips

It's within walking distance of Nihonkai Fisherman's Cape (日本海フィッシャーマンズケープ), and there's free parking too. You can buy vow plaques at the gift shop. The sea breeze is strong atop the cliff, so having a jacket to put on keeps evenings comfortable. Sunset times vary greatly by season, so check the sunset time and adjust how long you stay accordingly.
