Just a short walk from the north exit of Toyama Station, this waterside park surrounding the ship harbor of Fugan Canal is the definitive Toyama date spot. The iconic Tenmon Bridge (天門橋) features free observation towers on both ends, with a charming string telephone connecting the towers that lets you chat across the canal—a romantic attraction. Enjoy your morning coffee at a café overlooking the canal, beginning your trip with appropriately leisurely time. The water's surface with seasonal pleasure boats and the green of the lawn are picturesque from every angle.

Tips

The park is free to enter and open 24 hours for strolling. The waterside café tends to get busy during daytime on weekends, so mornings are your best bet. The observation tower stairs are easy to walk, so comfortable shoes are recommended. The nighttime lighting is also beautiful—if you have time, it's worth revisiting.

Best time to visit

About 1.5 hours. Mornings have fewer crowds and calmer water, making for beautiful photos.
