At the foot of Kurehayama, a cluster of small museums—the Folklore Museum, Craft Museum, Pottery Museum, and Medicine Peddler Museum—are gathered together. You can climb into gassho-style buildings and see traditional hearths and historic household tools up close, offering children continuous discoveries like 'That's how old houses used to be!' The Medicine Peddler Museum, dedicated to Toyama's traditional trade, also displays nostalgic items like paper balloons that were once distributed. The old wooden buildings scattered along rain-wet stone pathways take on even greater charm.
Tips
A combined ticket for all museums is economical. You'll walk outdoors between buildings, so don't forget an umbrella on rainy days. Since there are stone steps and slopes, a baby carrier is more practical than a stroller. Museums close in the evening, so we recommend arriving by around 4 p.m.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Late afternoon is less crowded, allowing for a peaceful tour.
