About this spot
A memorial museum right in front of Unazuki Station (宇奈月駅) on the Kurobe Gorge Railway, introducing the history of power development along the Kurobe River (黒部川). Through models and video, you can easily learn why the trolley train was laid deep into the gorge, and the story of the people who took on the rugged natural terrain. Learning the backstory of the trolley train you just rode should deepen your experience of the day considerably. Free admission also makes it an easy, casual stop.
Tips
Conveniently located just a short walk from where you get off the trolley train, it's also handy for adjusting your schedule before the train back. After visiting, it's a good idea to take a leisurely walk through the hot-spring town near the station, stopping by the foot baths and souvenir shops before heading home. Check the closing time and plan backward from there.
Best time to visit
About 40 minutes. Evening, after getting off the trolley train, is just right.
