About this spot

Located in Hondo no Mori Park, this red-brick museum building was originally constructed as an Imperial Army arsenal and is itself designated as an Important Cultural Property. Inside, you can trace Ishikawa's history from prehistoric times to the modern era through original artifacts and reconstructed displays, bringing the daimyo culture of the Hundred Million Kaga period and the lives of castle town residents much closer to you. The powerful festival reconstruction exhibition is popular with children, and it serves as a worthy conclusion where the memories of the day's walk through Kenroku-en and Kanazawa Castle connect with what you've seen.

Tips

It's just behind Seison-kaku Villa and about a 10-minute walk from Kanazawa Castle Park. The air-conditioned interior is ideal for a mid-afternoon break after a full day of walking. The row of red-brick buildings is also popular as a photo spot. Confirm closing time and enter with plenty of time to spare.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. The red bricks are particularly beautiful bathed in evening sunlight.
