A shrine located just next to Higashi Chaya District, cherished as the tutelary deity of the chaya district. Counted among Kanazawa's Five Shrines, this historic shrine once enshrined Maeda Toshiie (前田利家), the founder of the Kaga clan. Humorous ninja statues are hidden throughout the grounds, making it fun to see how many you can find as a couple. Just one step away from the lively chaya district, the shrine envelops you in a sudden, serene quiet.
Tips
Admission is free and your visit can be brief. It's helpful to have small change ready for offerings and omamori (fortune papers). The ninja statues are tucked away in unexpected places like hedges and shadowy steps—take a slow lap around the entire grounds. It's only a 1–2 minute walk from the chaya district, making it easy to visit during your food tour.
