Photograph the morning valley while crossing the all-hinoki bridge
About this spot
A signature sight of Yamanaka Hot Spring and a scenic spot spanning the upper reaches of Tsurushoji Valley, this bridge is constructed entirely of hinoki cypress wood. The refined elegance of its natural wood grain harmonizes beautifully with the valley's verdant foliage, creating a picture-postcard landscape. From atop the bridge, you can gaze down at the clear waters and dramatic rock formations of the Daishoji River, which sparkle brilliantly in the morning light. As the entrance to the Tsurushoji Valley walking trail, it's the perfect starting point for your gorge walk.
Tips
A small free parking lot is available at the bridge entrance, though spaces are limited—arriving early in the morning is recommended. The area around the bridge has many slopes and stone steps, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Before 9 a.m. the area is less crowded, and for capturing the whole bridge, the best composition is viewing it from the downstream walking path.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 40 minutes. Before 9 a.m., the area is less crowded and the clear morning light makes photography easier.
