About this spot

Located right next to Komatsu Airport, this is the largest aviation museum on the Sea of Japan coast. A dozen or more actual aircraft are on display—from gliders and small aircraft to jet fighters and helicopters—and visitors are overwhelmed by the sheer size of the aircraft up close. The museum also features a large airplane-themed play structure within an indoor play area, allowing visitors to move freely even on rainy days—a wonderful feature for families with children. Those who take up the paid flight simulator challenge will feel like true pilots.

Tips

Admission and parking are free. The indoor play area is very popular with young children and may have usage time restrictions during peak hours. Since the museum is adjacent to Komatsu Airport, if timing allows, combining your visit with a viewing of real airplanes taking off and landing from the observation deck is highly recommended.

Best time to visit

Approximately 2 hours required. The play area tends to get crowded in early afternoon, so allow extra time.
