About this spot

A prefectural museum where you can learn comprehensively about the Sengoku daimyo Asakura clan and the Ichijodani castle town. The highlights are the "Asakura Mansion" - a full-scale reproduction of part of the feudal lord's residence - and a massive, intricately detailed diorama of the entire castle town, both perfect for grasping the overall picture before exploring the ruins. The display of vast amounts of excavated artifacts and stone-paved remains visible within the museum are also well worth seeing. The recommended sequence is to first study at the museum before heading to the ruins, allowing you to experience Ichijodani more deeply.

Tips

Purchasing a combined ticket with the Restored Town Street ruins is a good value. The museum has a café restaurant, convenient for lunch breaks. Parking is free and the building is barrier-free for comfort. The museum is typically closed on Mondays (or the following day if Monday is a holiday), so confirm opening hours in advance.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 2 hours. Entering before noon is smooth if you plan to include lunch
