A natural rock arch that represents Echizen Coast, sculpted by the relentless erosion of wind and waves over countless years. According to local legend, it was named "the gate that calls birds" because migratory birds would rest their wings here. The arch was once so large that the former national road passed beneath it, and standing close by is an awe-inspiring experience. The striking contrast between the blue Japan Sea and the rugged rock face creates a perfect backdrop for family photographs.
Tips
Free parking is available at Yobitorimon Park, from which you can view the arch up close via a walking path. Some areas directly below the rocks are restricted; follow the signage. Coastal winds are often strong, so secure your hat. Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes.
Best time to visit
Plan for about 45 minutes. Afternoon light from the west makes the sea's blue especially vivid.
