Photograph Fuji Kyuko Railway Trains Passing Above the Waterfall in Perfect Timing
About this spot
A spectacular waterfall on the Katsuragawa River, cascading down craggy lava rock. Directly above the waterfall, a Fuji Kyuko Railway iron bridge crosses, and if the timing is right, you can capture both the train and the waterfall in a single photograph—a dream spot for train enthusiasts. Connected to the haiku poet Matsuo Bashō's stay in this area, a monument with his verse stands overlooking the falls. Since you can enjoy the view from the viewing platform in a short time, it's easy to stop by between afternoon activities.
Tips
Train passes are limited, so check the timetable and wait a little beforehand for successful photography. For safety, view from the paved observation area. The parking space is small, so please share courteously.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Afternoon light brings out the brilliant white of the falling water.
