Photography at the Striking Red Arch Bridge from the Observation Deck

About this spot

Spanning Kawamata Valley along Yatsugatake Highland Line, this striking red arch bridge—affectionately known as the 'Red Bridge'—is one of Kiyosato's finest scenic spots. The contrast between the lush greenery of the deep gorge and the red bridge is beautiful, with the majestic ridgeline of Yatsugatake rising in the background. An observation plaza and parking area are set up near the bridge approach, allowing you to stop and take in the view leisurely. The landscape is especially vivid during spring greenery and autumn foliage seasons, making it a classic drive-by photo spot.

Tips

Free parking and a small shop are available at the observation plaza, making it easy to enjoy the scenery right from your car. A short visit is fine here, so it's easy to stop by while traveling. There are safety railings on the gorge side, but hold young children's hands. Mist can obscure the view, so a clear-weather visit is recommended.

Best time to visit

About 30 minutes. In the afternoon, as the sun moves, the red of the bridge shows beautifully.
