Meet Sheep and Goats and Run Freely Across Rolling Grassland Slopes
About this spot
This free-admission park opens a section of the prefectural pasture sprawling across Yatsugatake's foothills. Across vast grasslands, sheep, goats, and ponies peacefully graze where you can observe them up close beyond the fencing. The gently sloping meadows are perfect for children to run freely, and the highland scenery stretching as far as the eye can see is truly pastoral. The park also features a restaurant where you can enjoy the pasture's bounty. On clear days, you can see the Southern Alps and Mt. Fuji from the grounds.
Tips
Both admission and parking are free—great value. The park's grassy slopes are easy to walk on in good footwear. Have wet wipes handy after animal contact. At high elevation, weather changes quickly, so bring a light jacket. The park closes in winter, so visit during the green season.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes. In the afternoon, you can see the animals relaxing and going about their day.
