About this spot

A hands-on science museum located near the summit of Atago Mountain, overlooking the Kofu Basin. The museum boasts abundant permanent exhibits where you can operate buttons and levers to experience scientific wonders firsthand, captivating both small children and adults alike. The dome-shaped Space Theater features a beautiful planetarium show, and you can also enjoy hands-on science workshops and science shows on certain days. From the observation terrace, you can take in a sweeping view of Kofu's cityscape, making it worth visiting for the views alone on a clear day.

Tips

Admission to the permanent exhibits is around ¥520 for adults, and the planetarium requires a separate admission fee with combination tickets available; confirm viewing times at the ticket counter. Free parking is available, and visiting by car is convenient as you'll need to drive up a mountain road. The museum is accessible by elevator and easy to navigate with a stroller. Weekend planetarium shows tend to fill up quickly, so it's recommended to reserve your viewing time as soon as you arrive.

Best time to visit
