Play freely on sloped slides and open plazas, and enjoy picnic time on the grass
About this spot
A free, nature-filled playground spread across Atago Mountain alongside the science museum. Features large slides that take advantage of the mountain slopes, athletic-style play equipment, and wide-open plazas to run around in—perfect for burning off energy after engaging your mind at the science museum. The park, surrounded by trees, changes character with each season, and spreading out a picnic blanket on the grass becomes a cherished memory for children. Combined with the science museum, you can easily enjoy a half day of play on Atago Mountain alone.
Tips
Free admission. The park has many slopes and stairs, so comfortable shoes and clothes that can get dirty are recommended. There are few dining options nearby, so bringing a packed lunch is advisable. In summer, don't forget sun protection and insect repellent. On rainy days, shift your plans to slowly enjoy the museum exhibits and planetarium show without overdoing it.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1.5 hours. The grass plaza is lively with picnicking families around lunchtime.
