About this spot

A free playground full of nature, spread across the same Mt. Atago as the science museum. It features a large slide that makes use of the natural hillside, athletic-style play equipment, and a plaza where kids can run around, making it perfect for moving your body after using your brain at the science museum. The tree-surrounded grounds change expression with the seasons, and spreading a sheet on the lawn for a picnic lunch is something children look forward to. Paired with the science museum, Mt. Atago alone offers a full half-day of play.

Tips

Admission is free. Since the grounds have many slopes and stairs, comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty are recommended. There are few restaurants nearby, so bringing a bento for lunch is reassuring. In summer, don't forget sun protection and insect repellent. On rainy days, don't push it - switch to a plan of leisurely enjoying the science museum's exhibits and planetarium instead.
