Located within the same Geijutsu no Mori Park as the art museum, this literary museum houses and displays the manuscripts, letters, and personal belongings of writers connected to Yamanashi, such as Higuchi Ichiyo, Akutagawa Ryunosuke, and Dazai Osamu. Seeing their handwriting up close makes the writers you knew from textbooks feel much more real. The calm exhibition space is just right for cooling down after appreciating art, and any child who loves books is sure to be captivated. It's just a short walk from the art museum, so hopping over here while admiring the park's sculptures makes for a pleasant finish.

Tips

Admission to the permanent exhibition is affordable at around 330 yen for adults, and it's just a short walk through the park from the art museum. In the reading room, you can freely pick up literature-related books. Since the exhibits are mostly text-based materials, it can be fun for small children to go around with a game-like approach, such as let's find handwriting from people of the past. Check the closing time and allow yourself plenty of time before entering.

About 1 hour 15 minutes. The museum is quiet in the evening, allowing you to read through the materials carefully.
