Known nationwide as the Millet Museum, this art museum houses numerous works by Millet and the Barbizon School, including his masterpieces The Sower and The Gleaners, Summer. Standing before the real paintings you once saw in textbooks naturally leaves both children and adults quietly awestruck. The warm paintings depicting the lives of farmers are easy to appreciate, making them perfect for a first museum experience. Sculptures are dotted throughout Geijutsu no Mori Park, where the museum stands, and being able to take a leisurely stroll through the greenery after viewing the art is another appeal.

Tips

Admission to the collection exhibition is around 520 yen for adults, with special exhibitions priced separately. It's about a 15-minute bus ride from Kofu Station, and there's also free parking, making it convenient by car. The museum is barrier-free and easy to view with a stroller, and the museum shop is well stocked with souvenirs such as Millet postcards. Since quiet appreciation is the etiquette in the exhibition rooms, it's recommended to go around while quietly chatting with your child about which painting do you like.

About 2 hours. In the afternoon, group tours settle down, allowing you to spend time with the masterpieces at a relaxed pace.
