About this spot
A signature scenic spot in Karuizawa, affectionately known as "Swan Lake." A well-maintained walking path circles the elongated pond, which takes about 20–25 minutes to complete. The reflection of trees on the water's surface is like a painting come to life. Whether during fresh green or autumn foliage seasons, the view in the crisp morning air is particularly stunning. Benches along the path invite you and your partner to pause and enjoy the scenery at leisure.
Tips
Free admission and open to all. Visit early in the morning when there are fewer people; the best mirror-like reflections occur during calm, windless periods. The dedicated parking lot is small, so using paid parking nearby or walking from the Kyū-Karuizawa direction is recommended. The walking path has unpaved sections, so comfortable walking shoes are advised.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour. Around 9 AM, the air is crisp and the water reflections are most beautiful.
