About this spot
Called "Yohashira Shrine" because it enshrines four deities including Ame-no-Minakanushi, it is beloved as the "Wish-Binding Deity" where all wishes come true. Situated on the banks of the Medobe River at the entrance to Nawate Street, it's perfectly located for a midpoint prayer stop on the castle town stroll. The grounds, surrounded by trees, are surprisingly serene despite being in the heart of the town, and after visiting you can continue straight onto Nawate Street. The shrine grounds are also popular with children due to the many pigeons that gather there.
Tips
Entering from the torii gate on the Nawate Street side makes the subsequent town exploration smoother. Prepare small coins for offerings and fortune-telling. The surrounding soba restaurants get crowded at lunchtime, so timing your visit before or after lunch allows for a more relaxed meal.
Best time to visit
Approximately 30 minutes. Afternoon hours offer pleasant dappled sunlight through the trees.
