An art museum standing on the shore of Lake Suwa with a collection centered on Art Nouveau glasswork and contemporary Japanese painting. Works by Émile Gallé and the Daum brothers line the displays, and the soft glow of the "Toadstool Lamp," a masterpiece of Gallé's later years, is a must-see. In the dimly lit exhibition rooms, the delicate colors emitted by the glass are so beautiful they naturally spark conversation between you two. After viewing, you can also enjoy browsing the museum shop for glass souvenirs.
Tips
The lakeside location offers views of Lake Suwa through the windows. The museum is barrier-free and allows for peaceful appreciation. Before heading to the museum, it's recommended to stop at a famous eel or Shinshu soba restaurant around Lake Suwa for lunch. Free parking available.
