About this spot
Spread across a high ground overlooking Lake Suwa, this is Suwa's premier viewing spot. Lake Suwa and the city spread beneath you in all directions, and on clear days, distant mountains come into crisp view. The sense of openness, as if you alone possess the lake and sky, is a spectacular sight worthy of a drive destination. At dusk, the lake surface glows in russet tones, and the park is also known as a night-view spot. Sit together on the observation platform's benches and enjoy the leisurely passage of time.
Tips
Free parking available. The road climbing toward the mountains from the city center has many curves, so drive cautiously. The high ground is breezy and cooler than the town, so bringing a light layer is reassuring. Photography is best in the afternoon through evening light.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes required. Late afternoon light is gentler, and the lake appears more beautiful
