Play and Explore at a Sprawling Park with Views of the Northern Alps
About this spot
A national park spreading across the foothills of the Northern Alps, with the Horikane・Hotaka section being popular with families. The expansive lawns and seasonal flower gardens set against a backdrop of mountain ranges create quintessentially Azumino scenery. With large play equipment for children and a small stream with waterside play areas, there's plenty of space for active play. The indoor facility "Azumino School" features a science room with Azumino river fish and other attractions, providing reliable enjoyment even during unexpected rain.
Tips
Admission is very family-friendly: ¥450 for adults and free for junior high school students and younger. Multiple paid parking areas are available, with the central entrance closest to the play equipment area. The park is expansive, so deciding which areas to play in beforehand is key. Bring a change of clothes and towel for water play in summer.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Afternoon visits offer softer sunlight, making lawn play more comfortable.
