Explore the stone-paved hot spring town. Enjoy eating hot spring buns while walking and experience the retro atmosphere of traditional target shooting
About this spot
A hot spring town with nostalgic charm, where wooden lodges are tightly packed along stone-paved alleyways. The town has nine outdoor baths scattered throughout, and you'll see people in yukata robes clicking their wooden sandals—a picturesque scene. Plenty of activities children enjoy, including eating hot spring buns and savory pastries, and traditional target shooting games. Simply walking and exploring the narrow alleyways feels like stepping back in time.
Tips
The nine outdoor bath tour is for lodging guests; day-trippers can only use Oyu bath (confirm how to access at the local information center). The stone-paved alleys are narrow, so a baby carrier or hand-holding is safer than a stroller. Park your car in the lot at the entrance to the hot spring town.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. Lunch time makes it easier to choose from cafeterias and noodle shops.
