About this spot
A highland of gently rolling grasslands stretching endlessly, arguably the highlight of Venus Line. Sweeping grassland scenery fills the car windows, and driving alone offers exhilaration. Stop at a scenic viewpoint and on clear days you may see Mount Fuji and Yatsugatake. In summer, golden yellow Nikkō kisuge flowers color the grassland, and you might encounter gliders dancing in the sky. Leisurely walk the flat trails with your family, the perfect way to wrap up your day.
Tips
Strolls are free. Parking is available around scenic viewpoints. The highlands cool rapidly in late afternoon, so don't forget a jacket. Fog forms easily here, so drive safely with reduced speed if visibility is poor. Shops and restrooms are limited, so it's wise to take care of these early.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour required. Late afternoon light gently illuminates the grassland.
