A museum housed in a Showa-era Western-style building that displays award-winning works from the "Mino Washi Akari Art Exhibition," held throughout the Udatsu merchant town. The sight of numerous glowing washi paper light objects emerging from the darkness is ethereal, and the soft luminescence diffusing through washi paper is utterly captivating. The building itself, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, is worth appreciating for its retro exterior. Displays also recreate how artworks appear on the actual merchant streets, allowing you to immerse yourself in an art form uniquely born from the marriage of washi and light in Mino.

Tips

The museum keeps interior lighting dim; move carefully and view at a leisurely pace. The exhibition room is compact, so visiting during less crowded times makes photography easier. Located along the main merchant street, you can stop by while strolling. Afterward, lunch at a nearby machiya café or restaurant is recommended.
