A museum comprehensively introducing the techniques and culture of Mino washi, located in the Warabi paper-making village along the Itatori River. Its exhibitions showcasing the raw materials, tools, and artisan techniques behind "Hon-Mino washi"—hand-crafted washi registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage—are a delight for craft enthusiasts. In the signature papermaking experience, you can scoop fibers from the vat using a wooden frame and personally craft your own sheet of washi, sensing the extraordinary moment fibers and water transform into a single page. The shop stocks Mino washi stationery and accessories, perfect for finding keepsakes to conclude your journey.

Tips

It is about a 20-minute drive from the Udatsu merchant town. Papermaking experiences have set appointment times; confirm the schedule and availability in advance for peace of mind. Bring a hand towel as your hands will get wet during the experience. Due to drying time, your completed washi may not be available to take same-day; follow instructions for later pickup or shipping.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. Arriving around 3 p.m. allows you to comfortably experience both the papermaking and exhibits without rush before closing.
