A beach stretching right in front of the town, defined by its palm-lined promenade and a gently curving sandy shore. With resort hotels in the background, the scenery evokes a vacation paradise, and a leisurely walk along the water's edge naturally lifts your spirits. Moon Terrace (ムーンテラス), adjacent to the beach, features distinctive Mediterranean-style architecture and is a classic photo spot—also known as a sacred location for lovers. The proximity of the shopping street to the beach, just steps away, is another unique feature of Atami. After your shopping street snacks, enjoy a leisurely coastal stroll together in the sea breeze.

Tips

The promenade is paved and easy to walk on. If you venture down to the sandy beach, keeping on your walking shoes offers better traction than removing them. Afternoon sun can be intense, so a hat is recommended for comfort. Benches dot the promenade for sea-view rest breaks. For photos at the water's edge, time your shots to avoid getting shoes wet during the incoming waves.

Best time to visit

Plan for approximately 1 hour. Afternoon light is angled from the sea side, making both the sandy beach and promenade particularly photogenic.
